The “Hint: Shoot enemy to kill them” isn’t even funny because in Day of Defeat: Source there is the exact same hint.

This reminds me of Sauerbraten (http://sauerbraten.org/).

    2. Yeah, so true… None of the modern FPS games could beat games like Quake 1,2,3 or Unreal/UT99.

While its true that this is going against what video games are all about, you can’t really blame the industry for what its doing. The core problem lies within the _why_ of all this. As a matter of fact, the current “economy” actually promotes this behaviour and the decisions the big companies make.

People want to get money to attain peace in mind or aquire something they desire, because without it, you can’t pay for rent/food or invest in something valuable to you. Money is the focus in the world, not the things that naturally feel “right” to us, such as really good video games, instead of the crap we get now.

      This can be changed.

If you’re interested, check out the zeitgeist movement.

Its free and all you need to do is to tell others about it.
Once enough people know and understand this possibility, the change will come by itself over time.

Btw, they’ve got a youtube channel if you’re too fat to read.

    5. Reactorcore: yes, I am a big fan of the Zeitgeist movement. I do understand that the core of the problem is the monetary system.
But we are the consumers of this system. If we stop playing and buying games that we consider shitty we can make an impact.
For starters never install Origin and buy any EA game.

Then they will notice that there is a huge market of people that actually wants to play good games and have fun and they’ll reconsider their strategy.

    6. MM: And why is that? I hate EA too, but how is Origin a problem?

    7. Watch this one too, MM:

(do not get distracted by the manga drawn stuff – the message behind the video really fits to the topic)

    8. Reactorcore

Well, I don’t think it can change that way, MM.

The stuff EA has on Origin are impressive products, something the general public would gladly pay for, even if it means that they need to install Origin, because in the end, it doesn’t really matter so much for the average non-hardcore gamer. Besides, most people don’t even realize the fine print and skip it entirely.

They’ll keep making the crappy games and it will only get worse, because they simply have a reason to do so.

An indie developer or a 3rd party company might actually try their best and make a good game, but once it becomes very popular, EA or other similar entity can offer them a deal to join them. Since everything is about money today, it would be very easy for said developers accept that said deal and join EA, because its very attractive, provides safety and profit.

Its grim, but the society is setup to be against best quality products and services for now.

    9. “MM: And why is that? I hate EA too, but how is Origin a problem?

This is why it is a problem.

    10. if u can say your idea of going around playing a fps

r.i.p., my favorite devlog. link-dead will always have a place in my heart.

If MM ever feels like venting about the engine change in KAG a bit more, I’d still be interested on how that went.

The last post ended in speculations, but now MM said he stopped the overhaul in favor of modular upgrades (never change, MM :D) on the KAG devlog.

    14. Missing the philosophical blogposts…

    15. Quake was creative game for skilled gamers.
Any game you find on Origin is for those who played Quake Easy Mode .
      Remember Easy Mode ?

    20. Mitzi I can answer this bcsauee my family lives down there! You are outside of my color planting schedule by about a month. The trick is, Las Vegas gets so hot in the summer, but you can grow almost all winter long. My book is really for a spring-summer-fall planting schedule. The dates I offer might work for you and others who live in warmer climates, but really have a spring-summer and a fall-winter season. I am very aware of your needs, and it’s on my list of things to research and write about. But honestly, I can’t speak from experience, only from my research. I encourage you to contact your local extension service (www.extension.org) for a recommended planting schedule.
