Michal Marcinkowski creator of the online 2d shooter Soldat is proud to announce his new indie game project.
After getting tired of games with constant gore, slaughter, blood-fest, brain-smashing, spinal-coord-ripping, arm-twisting-agony, brutal-gut-exploding, bored to death by games where you shoot, mow down with a machinegun, stab with a knife, chop limbs with a chainsaw, blast with a grenade and snipe headshots – Michal Marcinkowski announces that he has started working on a new game entitled:
HUG
Hug: A massive world full of bright colors, teeming with life and filled with ancient secrets. Join a party of friends on a mission to hug people that need a little love and care. Travel areas ranging from hidden caves, shrouded in darkness, to beautiful, sunlit oases, all lovingly handcrafted by its creators.
Hug is a Massive-Multiplayer game with team-based tactical hugging elements.
Main features:
- Experimental graphics
Revolutionary new style of graphics with black foregrounds and colorful picturesque backgrounds (any similarity to the 2006 short-movie Benedito Machine is strictly coincidental)
- Dorky looking character
Tired of games like Contra were the main character is actually a man and a possible role-model – Hug features dorky looking characters that attract the 0-3 year old audience.
- Kissing flowers
- Hugging ponies
It must be mentioned that MM is a an actual male he just really loves hugging ponies in a video game all day.
- Forbidding violence
If you try to commit an act of violence on a friendly NPC the game shuts-down immediately, erases itself from the hard-drive and calls the cops.
- Stars
Everybody loves collecting stars right?
- Not made for profit!
This is an experimental art game made for purely artistic reasons (this game isn’t trying to copy the style of Braid which despite being an experimental game earned hundreds of thousands of dollars)
- Pointless activities
For example: spray painting walls. Actually that’s one of the major gameplay features of this game.
- Physics based gameplay and puzzles
It’s so easy to plug-in Box2D physics engine nowadays that it just had to make it into the game despite physics puzzles making no sense and having no gameplay value at all. Everybody loves physics right?!
- More stars
You never get tired of stars in games!
The game will be finished right in time for the 13th Independent Game Festival. It is a sure winner. If you want to meet Michal Marcinkowski and give him a hug buy a ticket to the awards ceremony.

Yeah, go on, call me a freak but the game I liked the most was Portal. Another side scrolling shooter won’t be “the best game ever”.

This is good.
Making fun games that are about shooting people isn’t a challenge at all. There are a dime a dozen such games.
But making _fun_ games without violence is truly an art.
A side benefit of a good game with no violence is that you can let a 10 year old cousin play it without feeling bad.

I hate April Fools. And I hate how people actually think its funny to trick somebody (or people) into anything. Its so stupid. Its like backstabbing in disguise (depending on the circumstance, maybe not as harsh as ‘backstabbing’).
