I invented a way to synchronize physics code over network using very little bandwidth. I’m implementing it now to see if it will work. This might be used for a variety of map objects, like guns, clips, rubble, boxes, ragdolls and finally doors and elevators which could possibly be destroyed; fall and kill somebody beneath it. Hope this idea works.

    1. Ho! Awesome!

    2. sounds like an awesome idea :O

how about bodies being blast away, pushing players back or hurting them/crippling them/taking them down ?

    3. ALSO : how much more would it take to make dead bodies remain for a while, and being able to still shoot them or taking cover behind them ?

id love to use a dead fucking mutantmen to still provide some use for me

    4. i just had a thought: consider a motion sensor at the bottom of the elevator shaft, and a remote explosive placed above the elevator. It may take some time to setup, but you could set traps so once somebody goes in the shaft, the explosive goes off and the elevator falls, and hopefully squishing the person beneath (although team communication would be required because, unless the motion sensor only sensed enemies, a friendly target could get caught in the trap as well).

    5. Yeah, nice addition.
This can also be used to create traps!

      Your idea will work! =D

    6. half life 2 deathmatch has awesome physics sync btw.
hope your idea works for you.

    7. Care to elaborate how this idea actually works? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    8. Speaking of physics: grappling hook. Update us?

    9. @MM Offtop: Would be nice OST for L-D ๐Ÿ˜‰
