    1. Would look really great with bump maps and other fancy stuff. Maybe someday..

      Anyway I think that we all hope that u’ll be coding the actual gameplay stuff


    2. I have bump map code working I just have to dig it out. But yeah I’m not doing it yet cause I want to make gameplay stuff now.

      Question: Michal, the first version of the game will have the “Strategy mode”, the “Soldat mode” or both?


    4. btw, being the texture procedural why is it that we can see a clear “cut point” or “connection line” between the textures? I thought that this is a one big image not a set of textures?

      I think those we can see are meant to be there to make it look like there’s been walls there that have been broken down for example.

      First version will have a variation on deathmatch – Soldat mode.

      mman: where do you see that connection? It’s one big image but it is chopped into 512×512 pixel textures for rendering and memory optimization.

    9. I don’t know if it actually is or if it just looks that way because of compression, but the ambient map is very obviously very low rez. If bumping the resolution on it is not feasible, considering draw it with bicubic texture filtering or something to make it smoother than the blocky looking bilinear filtering used.

      Having said that, I agree to ignore the graphics and work on the gameplay for the moment. They’re already better than they need to be, and better than pretty much any other 2D sidescroller out there.

    11. Tinman: you’re right the shadow map is smaller, but it works much faster that way.

      Sarge: I dont have an idea how to do it at the moment.


    12. mman: those are places where the wall color changes. If you look closely the walls in this building had a lighter and a darker color before destruction.

MM will LD have destructible terrain ? i dont know how you can make this but i had this idea of a destructible terrain i dont know how to writh this on english but i want to share this idea i basically two part of terrain one its destructible and one part its undestructible so when a grenade explodes make a hole but no destroy the hole map

    17. I get what you’re suggesting Sarge. That would be cool, but I don’t know how hard it would be to code/make maps with.

    19. i’m just suggesting ideas i know its make almost impossible to make but showing diferents ideas make MM have new ideas, and make a perfect game wont make with simple code

    21. @Sarge, So you mean destruction like in gears of war 2? That would be good if full destruction isn’t possible, We could destroy levels down to the mesh stage, in turn also changing the walking sound (Mesh does not sound like concrete). This could also go perfect with the lighting and vision. You could create sniper holes.

    23. MM, in your perspective as a seasoned game dev, do you think Cortex Command could go online? If it is at all possible?
