Today was one of those beautiful game development moments were the result of days of work shows perfectly. The Bot figured on its own (no hard-coded if-thens) that to survive it’s better to duck behind cover before reloading.

Sweet! Random behavior or result of one of the bots tactics?
Grats on that!

That’s very cool. As a fellow indie developer writing my own AI I’m curious as to how the bot decided that taking cover before reloading was a good idea.
This is the best thing I’ve heard since you talked about the original concepts for LinkDead. Glad you did something that sounds truly impressive!
The post before this explains what I’m doing. I will write about it in detail in the future, it is really a nice system, I just hope it will work fast enough for many bots.
Apply a healthy dose of darwinism after finalizing the learning.
Its not about learning. They don’t learn and I don’t want them to learn. Because this game isn’t about having impossible to beat bots. It’s about realistic combat behavior. The bots just have a set of actions and choose the best one based on the current situation.
