I encountered some performance issues while stress testing the game. Both with Box2D physics and the new pixel shaders. Is normal mapping really this slow? Also the ragdoll isn’t the fastest thing, don’t know what’s up. I made the whole system faster by scaling the world down. It seems physics engine perform better in the scale of 0.0f-10.0f instead of real world values. Nevertheless ragdolls are a bit slow. It’s either their complexity or collision performance. I guess the latter cause a ragdoll shouldn’t be that slow.

    1. If you ever need BETA testers I think i speak for everyone here in saying. We will help πŸ˜€

Good luck though, Optimization is always a right bastard to get right.

    2. hmm mabye do some profiler testing?

    3. I wish I could help, but I know very little programming as compared to you.

I made a flash game once that was hella slow, found out that many functions I had each returned the same variable. So my stupid crappy flash game engine was taking up a lot of resources simply looping through unnecessary functions and calculations.

Not saying that that’s the case with you – as that’s a mistake only beginners would make. However, perhaps there is something that you could have missed or there is something not working as it should and causing either your game engine or physics engine to do extra unnecessary work.

    4. Underline

When you finally think taht something is working, all you need to do is come back and look again to find another issue.
      =/

    5. Box2D should be really fast, but maybe you are calling Step more often than it needs to. How does your main loop work?

    6. Fagnutsfagnuts

thought id post too! an unneeded comment but with a name like fagnuts who cares?

    7. staticfloat

In my testing with Box2d, (Spawning large amounts of triangles inside a box that filled the screen) I could have ~500 triangles all interacting at once before my framerate really started to drop.

    8. Michael i want to be a programer but i dont know…where do you study something like that? or what it is called ?

    9. SOme stranger

I deserve a fucking demo for the game. I need to play it.
Michal why the fuck isn’t a demo out yet ?!

    10. Some stranger, just… shut up.
Michal and sig should take the time for this game, just to make it even more awesome then it already is. Even if the game comes out in december, you’ll just know it will be awesome.

    11. At the current state i doubt that you would have fun playing the game. When it’s not ready then it’s not ready. So give MM his time and if you want to play the demo you still cab do that into your imagination πŸ˜› I am sure you can play it there ;). Do some fan art. That’s way better then requesting something which is still in development…

Diego, it’s called “Informatics” or “information technology” and you can study it anywhere, but you should try learning it a bit on your own for a start (using internet tutorials etc., java or delphi would be good starting points), so you can see if it’s something you like and can easily do or if you get confused by it all. Good luck!

(P.S. WHY THE FUCK ARE MY POSTS NOT APPEARING WHEN I USE THE USERNAME Cosmin? THIS IS FUCKED UP MAN! WHAT DID I DO?)

    13. i like ur name better now Cosmin πŸ˜›

    14. C'o's'm'i'n

      thx…i guess
