    One of the biggest additions in the next release will be guns as real physical objects. So now when you drop a gun it actually falls on the floor instead of disappearing. I added this a couple weeks ago and it launched an avalanche of changes. Because now I had to tweak everything to meet this standard. So picking items off the floor is a bit different (you can do it from different positions, not just by standing next to it, even in air), clips fall out from the gun, shells have sounds;
weapons can be shot at – this has 2 effects:
    1. If your fatigue is high the weapon falls out of your hands. (the gun being shot at also rises your fatigue, cause it hurts)
    2. The weapon can be actually used as a little shield; this makes more sense with melee weapons which actually have a block animation (press UP [W] to block).

    1. finally! some physics objects lake crates, barrels, and other trash on the map would be also nice.

    2. will it work like in cortex command??

    3. It will look stupid and unrealistic if every single bullet hits the gun. Make it chance based to simulate spread in depth direction.

Weapons being physical objects is a good idea, but the two effects you proposed aren’t good.

      1. I can’t think of a situation in real life when gun falls out of your hands just because your hands are tired. Maybe the gun would fall out if you were hit in your arms?
Or if you were holding a gun (or the driller, for example) with two hands and one of your arms was hit critically, you would then hold the gun only in one hand, which would cause huge recoil.

      2. Using weapons as a shield is, sorry to say, stupid. I don’t think you could effectively defend yourself with a weapon even as huge as Niddhog or Glitnir. We would need a shield gun-attachment or a shield held in one hand. Maybe that’s the time you think again about those energy shields like in Another World. I know that the ability to use the gun you are currently wielding as a quick defence shield is cool, but i just don’t see it physically.

But physical weapons are a very good idea. Now you can see a thrown away gun and pick it up. Maybe you could, when out of ammo, take a swing and throw your heavy, metal railgun in your enemy’s face? 😀

    5. Awesome feature. Gotta see how it plays though…. I never look at my fatigue metter so I guess the gun falling will feel semi random to me.
Dropping your gun made for some amazing moment in red orchestra lets see how it plays out for link dead.

With all that, all I need to start playing for real is a good game mode.

    6. @ Debbie:
The fatigue thing is only if the gun is hit by a bullet I think.
Throwing empty gun to cause damage is COOL !

    7. @ “1. If your fatigue is high the weapon falls out of your hands. (the gun being shot at also rises your fatigue, cause it hurts)”

I can see this being very annoying, unless its a on-occasion event that is partially random.

    8. Yeah it will depend on how often it will happen.

Hoping we can try that this weekend !!!!

    9. I guess it needs to be tried out to see how it ‘feels’ in gameplay and how often it really happens.

      Looking forward to a release.

    10. Thank you for all of your efforts on this blog. Ellie really loves managing investigation and it’s really obvious why. Most of us notice all regarding the dynamic medium you provide helpful ideas via the blog and therefore cause participation from website visitors on this theme and our favorite daughter is undoubtedly becoming educated a great deal. Take advantage of the rest of the new year. You are always performing a remarkable job.

    11. My brother recommended I might like this website. He was totally right. This post truly made my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!
