There is a war going on. Whether you know it or not you have chosen to participate in it. If you have not chosen to die today, you have chosen to fight.

Each of us has battles to fight. Those battles can be your personal history, your social background, all kinds of weaknesses including physical and mental, and all sorts of other obstacles that prevent you from achieving what you want in life. This battle is always uphill and it is always hard. Most of us will never win it. The majority will die defeated. Some of us will retreat mid-track. Some will simply ignore this war in hope that it will go away and peace will come.

Each of us has a different set of skills, different upbringing, various talents, different dreams. We all start at a different place, but we all have to fight in order to move from that position.

We fight and we fail. But when we win, we know the battle was worth it.

I’m gonna share a little secret with you. When I started making this blog a couple months ago, I didn’t yet decide what purpose would it serve. I had a couple options: write about boring bullshit that I think people want to read, make a money making blog and write about working as a game developer or to not be bound by any expectations, have freedom and just write about what I feel like.

This blog is one of my battles. It is, as Marlon Brando said about his autobiography, an exercise in freedom.

For those that understand this concept, you know how hard it is to be free. Free will seems to be such a vague term, when you see that you can’t even express what you feel, think and be honest with others and yourself on a daily basis. For those that don’t understand, take whatever value you want from this and be happy with it.

We all have our personal battles. Yet we are in this war together.

This is why I absolutely hate negativity. This is one of the worst human traits. I would without regret slay anyone that is against me and others that dream to achieve, produce value or simply make a difference in this world. Negativity is any kind of undermining others, laughing at, ridiculing for the sole purpose of amusement or attention, pointing out failures… in other words, the opposite of providing value. If you must be critical do it well, do it in a way that is constructive.

We are in this war together. We all want to be happy, give something to people, be liked, have money, have a rich biography, have a nice girl, be peaceful and content with life. Whatever you want. And the world is organized in such a way that nothing you want, will you have now and for free. You must win battles, plow through them, conquer with all the strength you have.

By moonlight, we ride – ten thousand side by side
With swords drawn, held high – our whips and armour shine
Hail to thee, our infantry – still brave beyond the grave
All sworn the eternal vow, the time to strike — is NOW!

I write these posts for myself. When I write how awesome everything is, how I know it all, it’s more of a guiding point than the truth. A place where I want to be. Because I’ve learnt that when you write something, specifically about your dream or how something works, that makes it real. It stops being an abstract thought in your head. It starts happening.

For example when I write how everyone is awesome, while writing that I still have doubts about it. But after writing it, my mind sort of goes on with that 100%. Right now I have absolutely no doubts that we are in fact magnificent. This is probably how the brain works. So it is absolutely crucial to not be negative and say undermining shit about other people and what they do. Life itself gives us enough obstacles. We really don’t need other fellow humans to help us fail.

Sound of charge into glory ride…

All I want to say for now is that we are all brothers. We are in this together. It is your choice on what side you will stand in this war. Do you want to just die, do you want to die a bitter old man or do you want to die in glory.

Haha, what a choice. But that’s really it, think about it.

    1. Hmmm… so how is it… when my girlfriend is bad in school and I tell her what she could do better, isnt that a kind of telling her she doesnt do it well enough? So that would mean you are saying it is bad to give advice, because by that you tell others they dont know enough and are thus stupid/incompetent. Now what?

    2. can’t agree with that negative attitude towards negative people.
they make fight harder and easy fight is not a good one. also there wouldn’t be ‘ja wam jeszcze kurwa pokaze’ sort of inspiration if not them

    3. You can say she’s bad in school, but you could also help her with more constructive comments instead of ‘girl, you suck in school, better improve’. I don’t know what exactly you’ve said to her, so don’t feel attacked when I assume a few things here, but usually when people ask those questions they did not understand that negativity isn’t bad when it’s constructive criticism meant to help and just honest and positive instead of really negativity for the sake of ridiculing someone.

Telling someone he or she is bad at something won’t help them, in fact unless they’re ignorant about their reality, most people really will already know that they’re bad at that something. So.. saying to her that she’s bad at school is pointless, unless your criticism is a lot more constructive than just a plain old ‘you suck, improve it’ comment.

I was expecting this http://youtube.com/watch?v=p7uBfCiMh-o but damn, didn’t happen.

    5. PHeMoX, your point would be 1A if I handt mentioned “tell her what she could do better”. This implies help offerts, tipps, learning together and what not. But its still a kind of indirectly telling someone he sucks and you’re better than him (especially if both are the same age!).

“while writing something I still have doubts about it. But after writing it, my mind sort of goes on with that 100%. Everyone is awesome”
      Pedophiles are not awesome. QED
A writer’s conviction over his ideas has nothing to do with the truth of those ideas. In layman’s terms, don’t assume something is true just because you wrote it. Always try to find a case that breaks the rule of what you write. This simple tool can take your writing to the next level, but only if you employ it consistently.

“Negativity is any kind of undermining others, laughing at, ridiculing for the sole purpose of amusement or attention, pointing out failures”
Pointing out a failure in and of itself isn’t negative. Being a man (as opposed to a child) includes recognizing that you made a mistake, if and when that happens. Striving for manliness and expecting to be pampered for your mistakes are contradictory. You’ve got to choose one or the other.

There, a rare occasion in which I sacrifice conciseness in order to make my point (not clearer, but) more accessible.

    7. Cosmin: constructive criticism is in fact positive. So that’s OK.
Honesty usually solves the problem. Cause you could say “You’re stupid”, but do you really mean that? You probably really think “You should study more because X and you can do this by means of Y”. And that’s OK.

I was expecting this http://youtube.com/watch?v=p7uBfCiMh-o but damn, didn’t happen.
I wanted to, but that’s like an ultimate fan version of the song, 10 minutes with 3 drum sets and 4 guitars lol. Couldn’t find a simpler version.

Okey, then I have assumed wrongly that you were not offering her actual help. But being honest (and helping her out) really is more important than saving her ego or not hurting her feelings. She will be grateful, but just don’t remind her of it every split-second and being too direct is not what you’d want to do. 😉 Being the same age probably also makes sure that she will be able to relativate what you’ve said, instead of taking for granted ‘the wisdom of an older person’ instead.

    9. I don’t understand why you type these LONG topics about shakespear Isnt your time spent more wisely telling us how far you’ve got in link dead or beserker? or actually working on the games themselves or playing Soldat?

    10. The more I read your posts, the more I tend to understand your reasoning.

“For those that understand this concept, you know how hard it is to be free. Free will seems to be such a vague term, when you see that you can’t even express what you feel, think and be honest with others and yourself on a daily basis.”

Freedom as in free will is the illusion of having had a choice. Ultimately, you always choose only one option.

In the sense of expressing what you really feel it is a double-edged sword. Just like with people talking in a hall or other confined public place – I think it’s a well-known example – should everybody whisper and keep their tone down, everybody would save their throats and ears, yet it takes just one person to speak louder than the rest for the volume to go up. The same thing is with honesty. If everybody would be honest, the world would probably be a better place. But today’s society favors the dishonest and manipulative, allowing them to take advantage, in their understanding of the word, of those who are always honest and, for example, never lie.

“Life itself gives us enough obstacles. We really don’t need other fellow humans to help us fail. “

Isn’t that contradictory with what you wrote a few lines previously? You’re living in a human world and you no longer have to wage war with nature – shelter, food and warmth are already there for the taking – so instead the only thing to wage war upon are the creations of people and people themselves. By warring your way to the top you deprive someone else of that position, regardless of what you personally define as top.

“Do you want to just die, do you want to die a bitter old man or do you want to die in glory.”

Does “Taking as many of them down with me” count as an option?

    11. I think get what your saying about negativity but I always kind of thought that our battle is the cause of people, not all but enough to make those problems a big addition to your battle.

Also are you ever going to compile all these philosophical posts cause that’d be sweet!

    12. by moonlight we ride

      hail to thee our infantry
      still brave beyond the grave

    13. bigbossSNK

      “by moonlight we ride”
Not a wise choice. Either attack by day, or full darkness. Sentries can spot you easier in the moonlight.

      “ten thousands side by side”
That’s a crowded battle line. A common mistake in early battle history. Archers are bound to hit someone when you form a continuous line.

      “with swords drawn held high”
That’s just ineffectual. Galloping provides you with a massive amount of momentum already, you’re just tiring yourself before battle.

      “our whips and armors shine”
That’s why you shouldn’t ride under moonlight. Cover your armor in soot, or mud, then dry your whips of oil.

      “hail to thee our infantry”
Galloping cavalry doesn’t look back at the infantry to hail them.

      “still brave beyond the grave”
Your dead count would benefit from avoiding moonlight rampages.

“all have sworn the eternal vow”
Hardly anyone knew what they were talking about.

“THE TIME TO STRIKE IS NOW”
      Under the moonlight?

Vikings based their fighting primarily on adrenaline rush and brute force. War tactics 1-uped them.

    14. I would say you’re a twat, but he was kind of asking for it, GJ!

    15. “Freedom as in free will is the illusion of having had a choice. Ultimately, you always choose only one option.”

Ow no that’s not true, we do not choose from only one option at all… fact is the past only shows us one option because we choose for it. It’s not that we didn’t have a choice to start with.

“Archers are bound to hit someone when you form a continuous line.”

Lol, not if they are archers and stand way behind the frontline, besides just try
to hit at always the same distance, it’s actually pretty difficult. It’s more difficult than just trying to aim horizontally, but I’m sure you’ve never shot a bow in your life, right? :p

    16. bigbossSNK

“Archers way behind the frontline don’t hit as easy”
I can place my fictional archers anywhere I please, and placing them where they are ineffective is a sign of ineffective thinking. Do keep up.

“Consistently hitting something with a bow at the same distance is pretty difficult”
When a single archer is involved. I’m talking about military units.
Placing your units far apart is a proven military tactic to avoid concentrated damage. What exactly do you fail to understand?

“I’m sure you’ve never shot a bow in your life, right?”
I’ve never shot a bow in my life. But I don’t need personal dexterity with a bow to realize the military tactics behind it’s use.

    17. HAHA that’s an awesome interpretation bigbossSNK. Funny shit. Nevertheless vikings rule.

    18. I dunno, Spartans look pretty cool (after seening 300 for about the 10th time). They combine tactics and sheer power into one, awesome >:D

    19. movie =/= reality

    20. Anonymous

      “movie =/= reality”
I disagree, its more like movie=story told by man

      Reality is physically feasible.

      You mean movie=/=history.

    21. “When a single archer is involved. I’m talking about military units.
Placing your units far apart is a proven military tactic to avoid concentrated damage. What exactly do you fail to understand?”

I only pointed out that your archers should in fact form one line to be effective, don’t read into my words. I wasn’t talking about one single archer and in fact you are wrong Romans for example tended to simply use their shields against arrows, but still form big clusters of people. Not exactly a straight line, but their archers would definitely be in a straight line behind them and the front line with spearmen to take out mounted military units would also always form a straight line. It’s more effective than you think, because when shooting arrows it’s really easier to hit military units that are randomly spread out than units that form one single line.

“I’m sure you’ve never shot a bow in your life, right?”
I’ve never shot a bow in my life. But I don’t need personal dexterity with a bow to realize the military tactics behind it’s use.

In the context of war, you’re mentally would breakdown without disciplines. And with your cocky attitude, you’d prob. dessert.

    23. bigbossSNK

“When shooting arrows it’s really easier to hit military units that are randomly spread out than units that form one single line”
Depends on how many units you have, how many units the enemy has, the topology of the battleground, unit deployment, fortifications etc. As a rule of thumb though, never deploy 10.000 cavalry men side by side.

“In the context of war, your mentality would break down without discipline. And with your cocky attitude, you’d prob. dessert.”
Dessert? I haven’t even had lunch yet.
