Decide what you want and go get it.

The moment you decide you want it, you will become the person that can have it.

    Not sooner, not later.

The decision to get it will change you.

If you feel you can’t have it, that is because you haven’t decided that you want it.

    No reason, not to believe.

Trust what I am saying here and you will trust yourself.

The reason you think it’s not true, is exactly the reason why you don’t have it.

It is a wall made out of paper and you can’t go through it.

To go through it, you must become a person that is not afraid to crush walls made of stone.

If you believe you can crush stone walls, you will do so.

    Because you can crush stone?

No. Because they are really made out of paper.

Decide what you want and go get it.

    1. I’m confused, is this a song?

    2. bigbossSNK

“I’m confused, is this a song?”
Nah, it’s another one of those self-encouragement posts.

“if you believe you can crush stone walls, you will do so.”
Nope. Whether we’re talking about crushing stone walls or reaching for a goal, physical realities are physical realities.
Set your goals as high as you can, but always be grounded in the knowledge you might fail, even for reasons out of your control. Otherwise you ‘re letting your ambition blind you.

    3. bigbossSNK There’s always a way to crush stone wall (I’m talking of real ones). Maybe you won’t crush it with your hands but if you want to do it you will find a way maybe you will stole a bako but you will crush that dam wall.

    4. Physical realities aren’t realities until they’ve been witnessed.

    5. I agree with namuol.

    6. Complementing MM’s post:

Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening,
terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the
religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by
giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their
view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and
      learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness;
chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.

      Think for yourself.
      Question authority.

    7. Without order we may as well just go back to the Stone age.

    8. bigbossSNK

“if you believe you can crush stone walls, you will do so.”
“There’s always a way to crush stone wall (I’m talking of real ones)”
I agree. But in that case, you don’t break the wall because you “believed” you could, you break it because you searched and found the right tools.

“Physical realities aren’t realities until they’ve been witnessed.”
The fact that you can’t crush through stone walls is a documented fact. It has been witnessed, and I have more profound things to do than question the obvious.
Some martial arts masters can crush stone with their fist, but that has nothing to do with “believing” and everything to do with competence: having the right physical and mental tools (discipline, concentration etc).

“To think for yourself you must put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.”
Your association of learning and vulnerability is arbitrary. Feelings needn’t be part of the learning process, they can only distract you.

    9. Stupid guys, don’t be a slave of the matrix! :)

OK, let’s assume the stone wall is only an abstract symbol for a big problem in your life, and let’s assume you try belive that you can solve the problem. What is the consequence?…

    10. bigbossSNK

      “What is the consequence?”
“Believing you can solve a problem” can only enable you to act if you have a preconception that the problem is impossible to solve.
“Believing you can solve a problem” isn’t a blanket statement that also includes motivation, resource gathering, knowledge acquisition and competent action. It only incorporates thinking (without necessarily examining the physical reality of the problem) that it can be solved.

    11. Boy boy boy, so much knowledge in your head and it aint good for nothing. This is all about motivation, not about a stone wall and not about any knowledge, material means or anything else needed to achieve something.
Its the ideea that achieving something begins with one believing in that which he wants to achieve. If this is not given, he will not reach his goal, no matter what financial and God knows what other support he has.
You need to believe you can break the wall to be able to do so. Period.

    12. bigbossSNK

“You need to believe you can break the wall to be able to do so. Period.”
That’s where you’re fundamentally in error. Getting things done ISN’T dependent on believing you can get things done. You can have all the doubts in the world and still reach your goal (driven by passion, revenge, love etc).
Can you understand that or do you need visual aids?

    13. It is not dependent on it, but it could help anyway. That is what is called “human character”. Living a “lucky” live is not only done by understanding the physics, biology and math. Everyone has its own goals in live to achivie. Most of the people can’t get rid off the biological body and instincts they have, maybe its impossible anyway. If you are in a cage, you maybe can’t break the barrier. But you can change the point of view what it does mean to YOU and your current point of view. What would you do? Would you make a selfkill? If you always think rational, someday you’ll get an ass blockage and get “unlucky”, believe me :)

    14. Fish Fart

Michal i’ve been reading alot of your inspiration pieces and I think music has alot of inspiration behind such thoughts. I was wondering what kind of music you listen to when you meditate and try to hone in on you conscious self

    15. bigbossSNK

“If you always think rational, someday you’ll get an ass blockage and get “unlucky”, believe me”
You do sound constipated, so you ‘re probably talking through experience.

In any case, critical thinking is much to decisive a tool to abolish, under any circumstances.

    16. Heh, SNK, you seem to ignore every existing psychological study out there. Sure, you can doubt reaching something/a goal and still be able to reach it in the end. But that is because you dont doubt it to the point at which you lack the courage/will to try it. There are a lot of people out there that are so in doubt of being able to break the wall, that they dont even try it. Never. And this is not an exception, this is quite the rule.
But nice for you being so self confident to always try reaching your goals even if you doubt them. I think that’s rather light-headed, such a logic. Try something even if you are in doubt and in awfull fear of the result… true capitalist, you. But then again, judging by your answers, you’Re probably already doing that which Michal is trying to animate others to do. So why criticize your own way of life?

    17. bigbossSNK

“Heh, SNK, you seem to ignore every existing psychological study out there.”
Provide a single example of such a study.

There are a lot of people out there that are so in doubt of being able to break the wall, that they don’t even try it”
Then help them abolish their preconceptions. Saying “you can reach your goal if you believe in it” is just another thoughtless preconception, that doesn’t take into account the individual’s characteristics, or the goal itself.

“Trying something even if you are in doubt of the result is light headed”
It’s called taking a chance. You take chances every day, but they only become important when they can influence your social dynamics or survival.

“you ‘re probably already doing that which Michal is trying to animate others to do.”
Michal is telling people that whatever they want, the can get if they believe so.
The premise that guarantees success is to realize which skills you have, whether you can reach your goal with these skills, and if that’s a negative, expand your skill-set or modify your goal.

    18. It hasn’t anything to do with believeing you can break the wall, it’s about deciding if you can do it. When you DECIDE you can break it, you do so. Sure, it says “believe” in the text, but the real word should be decide.

And people going against the physical laws have also been witnessed.

Here in Sweden, a few years ago, a guy was recorded lifting a gravestone by himself because his dad was under it, and afterwards, it needed 12 people to lift it. He was not a muscular man, he just got scared. That is, he got a HUGE adrenalin (sp?) kick and that helped him. Still, he could so something against the laws of physics.

Now… If I would decide to learn a hundred thousand decimals of pi, that would make me do that. If I truly decide to do something, I will do it. It has worked so far, except for winning over Aimbot in a Soldat 1v1. :S

So… I am now deciding I will learn all of the OLL and PLL algorithms in the Friedrich method of solving the Rubik’s Cube. If I do that, I won’t miss any single post you write here Michal.

    19. bigbossSNK

“The non muscular man who lifted a gravestone did something against the laws of physics”
What makes you think that’s against the laws of physics? It might be against your preconceptions of what the human body is capable of, but it sure isn’t against the laws of physics.

“If I truly decide to do something, I will do it.”
If you truly decide to do something, and that something is within reach of your skill set, you will do it. If it’s beyond your skill set, you will fail.

    20. ““If you always think rational, someday you’ll get an ass blockage and get “unlucky”, believe me””

I don’t care as I like truth and rationality more than pretty fairytales of irrationality to make me “lucky” or feel better. Some rational truths (or theories) might indeed turn out to be somewhat saddening, but who wants to live believing in what is likely to be lots of bullocks and lies?

    21. “What makes you think that’s against the laws of physics? It might be against your preconceptions of what the human body is capable of, but it sure isn’t against the laws of physics.’

‘If you truly decide to do something, and that something is within reach of your skill set, you will do it. If it’s beyond your skill set, you will fail.”

      TRUTH

    22. Fish Fart Says: Michal i’ve been reading alot of your inspiration pieces and I think music has alot of inspiration behind such thoughts. I was wondering what kind of music you listen to when you meditate and try to hone in on you conscious self
Hey, I like Bach, Beethoven and from contemporary music : Vangelis, Oliver Shanti and there is a CD called Sacred Spirits which is awesome and can get you easily into a trance.

    23. @PHeMoX: I also share your opinion. But everything has its limits. As a human, you can’t ignore that you have a body and brain parts that have no conciousess. I also hate to not understand something. Im a rational programmer and philosoph. But it is sometimes better not to spent too much time with thinking on the same thing. It is sometimes not as effective as just let it go. And thats for me being “lucky” as a human: to find the best compromise between thinking and feeling. BTW: This “ass blockage” (lol :)) can also result of sitting too much or lift to heavy weights. I still havent found the reason. But there are always many factors that come together.

    24. Jojanzing

“You can have all the doubts in the world and still reach your goal (driven by passion, revenge, love etc).”
Having any one of the motivations mentioned in the brackets means you have reached a decision as to what you want to do. You cannot avenge without choosing something/someone to avenge. You cannot love without loving something/someone. Thus, as michal reasons, you have decided what you want, and thus, according to michal, you can attain it. Of course, the factors you mention also play a role.

      “It’s called taking a chance.”
In order to take a chance, one must be confident in one’s ability to succeed, or sure of oneself to the extent that one can shake off a failure easily. Even if this is not ideal, this is how it is.

    25. bigbossSNK

“In order to take a chance, one must be confident in one’s ability to succeed, or sure of oneself to the extent that one can shake off a failure easily”
Your claim is arbitrary. People are in no obligation to follow rules when taking chances. They can even take chances that are irrational, based on survivability, social dynamics or monetary capital.

    26. Yeah, I mean, a guy sure can lift a gravestone by himself that takes 12 people to lift, right? Sure, you can think it’s just that I don’t know what is possible for a human to do, but… Think about it. One person as strong as a gorilla without much muscles? It just doesn’t feel right. Whatever.

And I think you can do things you normally wouldn’t be able to, in some situations.

    27. bigbossSNK

“And I think you can do things you normally wouldn’t be able to, in some situations.”
If you’re doped up on adrenaline or opioids, you can do things you “normally” wouldn’t do. This doesn’t mean they are physically impossible.

    28. “@PHeMoX: I also share your opinion. But everything has its limits. As a human, you can’t ignore that you have a body and brain parts that have no consciousness. I also hate to not understand something. Im a rational programmer and philosoph. But it is sometimes better not to spent too much time with thinking on the same thing. I see what you’re saying and I agree. Sometimes things aren’t quite worth thinking about too much. Definitely true. I also hate not understanding things, but at the same time I’m well aware of my own capabilities. There’s a limit to the amount of knowledge one can gather, both physical and mental so to speak, so even if there would be an answer to every question left unanswered for me personally, it’s probably not possible to gather all answers even if they exist. I’m aware of all that, but I’m also a relativist and as such I have no problems with those limits.

    29. Just a thought on the subject:
Thinking about whether something is possible or not before making a decision to do it is completely irrational. Because until you make the decision, you don’t have a complete set of variables to analyze the problem. Namely you don’t see yourself doing the thing. You can see it only after you have decided to do so. The decision makes it possible to happen in the first place.

    30. bigbossSNK

“Thinking about whether something is possible or not before making a decision to do it is completely irrational”
You are in an airplane that’s about to crash, the door has been blown away and you don’t have a parachute yet. Do you:
      A. Jump off the plane as you are
      B. Consider your imminent death and search for a parachute before you jump.

“Because until you make the decision, you don’t have a complete set of variables to analyze the problem”
You obtain the complete set of variables to analyze the problem through acquiring information and thinking about them critically. The decision to act doesn’t “add any variables” into the mix.

“You can see it only after you have decided to do so.”
Then you have some kind of genetic defect, or stroke induced brain malfunction, because most people can plan before acting.

“The decision makes it possible to happen in the first place.”
No, your decision to act only opens the door for what you are trying to do. Walking the rest of the road is another matter. Someone might even close the door behind you, forcing you to stay on this road you selected earlier but no longer want.

Honestly, If you’re going to be throwing soft-balls all day, don’t post. You’re making this easier, not harder.

    31. Honestly, if you have nothing else to add, I might consider you a troll.

    32. bigbossSNK

That would only demonstrate your ignorance over the very terms you accuse others of.
