    I released a new private alpha version. I was working really hard on this and am feeling really tired by now. I hope that playing/testing the game will rejuvenate me. Here is a list of some of the stuff I added or changed. Public alpha will be available if this test goes well.

    – movement and climbing is now more automatic and simple (one key for climbing down, climbs and ducking in small corridors is done automatically)
    – added inventory searching/scavenging animations
    – improved dust processor physics – the smoke now behaves and looks 5 times better than on the recent videos
    – added re-throwing (picking up from ground) and disarming grenades
    – added  smoke bomb
    – synced the ragdoll through network
    – added Ubermen wrist attachment claws (like wolverine, this one is my personal favourite)
    – added cloaking device for mutants
    – added help display with all keys for noobs (F1 key)
    – added spawn menu music
    – added dynamic ambient music (changes based on what is happening on the screen; really simple now; but I have big plans on this one)
    – added dynamic echoes based on walls
    – added muzzle smoke

    3. Sounds fantastic. Would be interesting to see dynamic music in a multiplayer game like this, that seems to be a rare thing. I can’t think of any games that have this outside of singleplayer, other than rts games.

      A question though, are atmospheric/weather effects planned/possible? Or is it mostly indoor environments?
      (while reading “dynamic ambient music” i thought for a second i was reading “dynamic atmosphere” which is what prompted this question haha)

    9. I would love too try out this game, the trailers so far look amazing and I would love to give it a try in its already seemingly amazing state 😀 (I only say seemingly amazing because I haven’t actually played it, I’ve only seen the amazing footage.)

      You just got some registration promotion and I think you should make sure the new version will be released any time soon.

      In case you didn’t notice yet, EnEsCe is spending most of his time on his ‘live redemption checker’ and the beta is online for 11 months already.

    22. I’m gonna reiterate that people want to know about the status of Soldat. This is something that you, MM, need to address, because Enesce doesn’t seem to care.

      The more Soldat players you lose, the more LD players you lose.


    23. Soldat is no longer being developed by Michal, if enesce doesnt care about development, nobody probably does, because noone asked enesce or michal for the the source code.


    24. As Soldat is STILL MM´s game and EnEsCe SHOULD care it would be really fine if there could just be some Announcement Topic on SoldatForums.com
      We just want to know whats currently going on as the Beta is now out for nearly 1 year, and http://soldat.pl says ” Soldat 1.5.1 Release Candidate version will be out any moment now” which was 5 month ago.

      We are just looking for some statement about the current status of development.

    26. TLD, there are plenty of people who have tried to help out in development (eg Shoozza), only to get rebuffed by eC.


    27. People who will actually work on soldat have offered to help, Enesce needs to admit he is far too slow, and hand over to someone who actually cares about soldat. It will be a sad day when soldat dies.

    29. yeah, I would also suggest you to take a short break (2-3 days) and get the soldat situation fixed (open-source, give source to some other developer, etc.)
      then you can forget about it and completely focus on ld-development.
      soldat doesn’t deserve to die like this :/

    33. Speculating: There will be no new version. Who will be the new developer?


    34. One thing I will ask to keep in the next version of Soldat is the new poly types. At first I was against it in fear of changing gameplay.. but it won’t. I made a sub gamemode where one team has to sneak via stealth and hiding, past the opposing team. Even if text above your head gives you away – the new polytypes make such a map possible.

    41. LD does have potential, but do you really want to wait another 1-2 years till a LD-mod will be in such a state that you could compare it to soldat?
      I just hope for 1-2 new developer(s) who replace enesce. if he is willing to do it shoozza would be a great choice imo according to his coding skills and mainly because of his attitude.

      I fully agree with you. Soldat 1.5.1 RC was supposed to come out “any moment now” 5 months ago.
